Von mir gab es noch gar keinen Trendausblick für das Jahr 2008. Ich lasse mich mal überraschen, was die Themen im einzelnen sind, bin aber heute von einer lieben Kollegin auf folgende Trendmap aufmerksam gemacht worden:

Gut zu diesem Thema passt auch die Veröffentlichung des Horizon Report 2008, den das New Media Consortium und die EDUCAUSE Learning Initiative herausgegeben haben. Ihre Vorhersagen:

The two technologies placed on the first adoption horizon in this edition, grassroots video and collaboration webs, are already in use on many campuses. Examples of these are not difficult to find. Applications of mobile broadband and data mashups, both on the mid-term horizon, are evident in organizations at the leading edge of technology adoption, and are beginning to appear at many institutions. Educational uses of the two topics on the far-term horizon, collective intelligence and social operating systems, are understandably rarer; however, there are examples in the worlds of commerce, industry and entertainment that hint at coming use in academia within four to five years.

Kritische Veränderungen sind ihrer Meinung nach

• Significant shifts in scholarship, research, creative expression, and learning have created a need for innovation and leadership at all levels of the academy.
• Higher education is facing a growing expectation to deliver services, content and media to mobile and personal devices.
• The renewed emphasis on collaborative learning is pushing the educational community to develop new forms of interaction and assessment
• The academy is faced with a need to provide formal instruction in information, visual, and technological literacy as well as in how to create meaningful content with today’s tools.

Als wichtige Trends identifizieren sie

• The growing use of Web 2.0 and social networking—combined with collective intelligence and mass amateurization—is gradually but inexorably changing the practice of scholarship.
• The way we work, collaborate, and communicate is evolving as boundaries become more fluid and globalization increases.
• Access to—and portability of—content is increasing as smaller, more powerful devices are introduced
• The gap between students’ perception of technology and that of faculty continues to widen.

Gerade die letzten sog. Trends zeigen für mich nochmals, wie wichtig auch eine weitere Beschäftigung (z.B. in Form von mediendidaktischer Qualifizierung Dozierender) mit Web 2.0 in Schulen und Hochschulen ist und bleiben wird. Technologien des Web 2.0 und auch des mobile leanring verändern Nutzergewohnheiten und Lernen auf unterschiedlichen Ebenen. Hier warten noch einige Aufgaben auf uns.
